Our Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart of the Habitat mission and operations. They bring a variety of skills, interests and ideas to the organization. Build volunteers might be professional tradespeople donating a portion of their time and expertise, or first time builders who have never hammered a single nail. Everyone benefits.
    • Experienced builders help ensure quality on our sites. They also train and guide our Crew Leaders and volunteer teams. They gain the satisfaction of knowing they have made a difference in the lives of people who need a hand-up.
    • Newcomers have the opportunity to learn construction skills in a supportive and safe environment, and feel the pride of giving back to their community and their society.
The Build site is not the only way to help. Other volunteers work behind the scenes – on committees, raising funds, supporting families and advocating in their own communities.

Working together, volunteers enable us to control the costs of home building, and make housing affordable.

Volunteers are a vital part of our history and our ongoing success. Join the team today. You can make a difference!

BUILD VOLUNTEER TRIVIA:
Did you know that one volunteer has worked on all homes build in HRM between 1992 and 2009?
Larry Graham is the only person who was at the original meetings for Habitat for Humanity in HRM and he still remains active on the build and on our Build Committee. Our 25th home was dedicated in his honor.
