Apply for Housing

Are you in need of better housing?

A not-for-profit Christian organization, Habitat for Humanity HRM is dedicated to the elimination of inadequate housing by building homes in partnership with families in need. Habitat for Humanity believes in giving a hand-up and not a hand-out. Habitat homeowners contribute to the construction of their own homes and then repay a long-term, no-interest and no-profit mortgage.

Homeowner families are chosen based on three criteria:

  1. A need for a decent, affordable house that cannot be met by traditional means
  2. The ability to repay a no-profit, no-interest mortgage loan
  3. The willingness to work in partnership with Habitat.

For more information, see Frequently Asked Questions.

Habitat for Humanity does not discriminate according to race, religion or ethnic group.  We only build in the Halifax/Dartmouth/Lower Sackville areas.
