Women Build -  with Habitat HRM

Habitat for Humanity Canadas Women Build program promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat houses. Women-built projects provide an opportunity for women to learn construction and to take on leadership roles in a supportive environment. Women Build works through affiliates to nurture and train women to build and invites women and men in the skilled trades to work with these women on the build. The reward for skilled and unskilled women and men is personal satisfaction and growth in providing a simple, decent, and affordable home with a family in need.

In 2007, one of our homes was a Women Build project built almost exclusively by women.  In 2008, we are building a 4-unit townhouse in Spryfield from August to October.  Because of the nature of the project, we are not able to designate a single house as a Women Build home.  Instead, Habitat HRM promotes Women Build by inviting women to participate at all stages of the build process, regardless of skill level or experience.  If you would like to know more about our build schedule or team requirements, visit the volunteer page or contact our Build Volunteer Coordinator, Mary Elizabeth at volunteer@habitatHRM.com.

Currently, we are scheduling Monday to Friday from 8:30-3:00 but we anticipate scheduling some evening and weekend shifts later in the summer.
